Helping Hands is a para-church ministry that started in 2020 during the pandemic to provide food to families in Scotia and surrounding areas. Its founder, Brian, saw the immense need during a drive up food pantry at SCCC. We are honored to help spport this grass-roots food program. We are looking forward to meeting needs with cold and frozen food when we open phase 2 in the fall of 2022, as the old bowling lanes has a large walk-in cooler and freezers on site. Need food? Call or text 518.688.7610 or on Facebook at HelpingHands
Every year over 2200 calls are made to child protective services in Schenectady County resulting in just over 100 kids being removed from their homes. Sometimes what a family needs is just a little extra help to avoid losing their kids. CarePortal helps churches, community members, and businesses connect to CPS workers to meet these needs. We are excited to be one of the churches reaching out to kids in Scotia and the rest of Schenectady County. Check out the map on at CarePortal.org to see all the work churches are doing in the United States and Canada. To see what impact Converge has had on Schenectady County, see here. John Ginnan assists churches to engage the young people of New York as the director of YouthAliveNY. This program provides church leadership, networks, and resources to grow a movement of students reaching students for Christ.
In 2019 Barna Research determined that the top 8 post-Christian communities were in the NorthEast US, with 2 areas, the Capital Region and Rochester being located in New York State. In 2020, Barna also noted the Gen Z students have unique ways of expressing themselves and their faith.
John's work is crucial for our young people to learn to express their faith in ways that are comfortable for them and relevant to their friends. Alive in 5, Engaging Conversations, and Campus Clubs all help youth reach youth in their schools and communities.

There are sections of the world where being a Christian, and especially a missionary, can be a death sentence. We currently sponsor two missionaries who risk their lives daily to bring the gospel to the unreached peoples of the world.
Because of the danger involved, we cannot tell you who they are, where they serve or their accomplishments for Christ. But we know that God is aware of what they are doing and we are grateful for the chance to help them.
If you are feeling the call to try a short term mission trip, we would love to support you!
We are looking forward to sending teams from Converge Community Church as the world re-opens. You do not need to be a member of Converge to go with us, but you will need approval from your pastor.
We also partner with other churches to send our people out to locations that we do not go to.
